What is Beef Tripe? Tripe is the lining of a cow's stomach! It's nutrient-rich and considered a superfood! The GREEN signals that no bleach or chemical processing has been applied in any way (which is a common process in human markets).

Tripe is known for its funky/stinky smell, but dogs go crazy for it!

Why do pieces look different? Cows have 4 stomachs and depending on what stomach your tripe chew comes from, it can have different textures and colors.

Sizing: Each piece is different, but should be around 4"x5" (we ship multiple if sizes are smaller)

Sourcing

Everything we make is connected to family farms. When you purchase from Farm Hounds, you will always know the exact farm we worked with to make that product.

We maintain the connection to the farm through the entire process by placing the farm name on every product.

Availability

We choose to source from working farms which means animals may not mature on our timetable. At times, this means we do not have access to the products we want or need. However, we continue to identify small, true working farms that we can partner with to help minimize any shortages.

Storage

Keep in a cool/dry place. Our dehydrated products are free of preservatives and pesticides, and although it is very uncommon, bugs and mold (from added moisture) are your two culprits for causing trouble.

For chews and hides, especially after a chewing session, avoid sealing them in plastic or containers that can trap moisture. Allow the chew to air out and store in a cool/dry place.

For longer storage, the freezer can be a great way to keep our products fresh, and away from bugs and pests that might show interest.

Chewing is one of the best mental and physical activities a dog can participate in!

  • Dental Health

    Want to save your dog from dental disease, horrible breath, and teeth cleaning bills? Then give your dog a chew for around 10 minutes every day! Similar to humans, canine dental issues can impact the overall health of your pet. Not only is gnawing and chewing a great mental and physical exercise, but it cleans teeth and strengthens gums. Daily chewing is just like brushing teeth for humans!

  • Recommendations

    Limit chewing to 15-20 minutes per session. Most dogs feel fully satisfied (endorphins get released in the brain) after short sessions of back-of-the-jaw gnawing. After chewing, store the hide out of sight and give again when you need the pup to have some down time.

Safety & Supervision

All chewing should be supervised, especially when your dog is trying something for the first time. When giving chews that have dehydrated bone, you want to make sure the dog has the jaw strength and patience to chew/crush the bones before consuming. If a sharp edge or inappropriate chewing behavior is ever discovered, we recommend removing the chew for safety reasons.

    Great until you start subscription to autoship

    My Cané Corso is just over 12 months and I've been buying from here very shortly after we got him ( maybe 3 Mos or so after). He absolutely loves his treats from here, especially the green tripe, so I tried to get it every time I remembered.

    I eventually decided it would be a heck of a lot easier if I'd just put together a little package for autoship every month. Well, ever since we have began the auto shipping over the last deliveries it seems that the quality of the Green tripe they're sending is subpar. Usually when I'd order every 2 months I'd get these large pieces that everyone oddly complains about in the comments. (Just get a kitchen sheer and cut em folks) Now however, I get much smaller pieces (about half the size of original) and they also smell very bad. Now I know what tripe is, but it showed that more care and cleanliness went into the quality control for those customers that you WANT to subscribe. It seems once you do, they send out poor quality products. Ive also noticed a similar issue with a few of the other items in my monthly delivery like very tiny chips of Esophagus vs what I received before. I didn't choose scraps so this truly baffles me. My dog does love tripe but he is not as eager to devour the one's we are currently receiving through autoship due to the strong smell. I gave 3 stars because I know you can do better as I've been buying from here for almost a year and with the options, benefits and large sizes, my Cané Corso has always been excited…
