Regenerative Agriculture
Healthy food comes from healthy soil.
What is Regenerative Agriculture?
Many farmers are trying to combat climate change or global warming with their farming practices, which has led to the popularity of regenerative agriculture or farming. With regenerative agriculture, farmers use photosynthesis to sequester carbon in the soil and improve soil health as well as produce more crops, have a better water supply, and pack the soil with more nutrients. This practice reverses the damage done by years of farming overusing the soil.
Since it is dependent on working with and adapting to nature, there is no specific “formula” for Regenerative Agriculture. However, there are some guiding principles to follow, which include:
- Build soil health
- Diversify cover crops and plant life
- No tilling
- No chemical inputs
- Livestock integration
- Adaptive grazing
In short, Regenerative Agriculture is a farming method that relies on nature, and when practiced, it offers a multitude of benefits for our farms, our environments, and our food. To learn more, see the in-depth articles below.
